I am drawn to the physicality of making a painting and the tactile engagement of materials. There is interest in the charged attributes of a hand-drawn line: how a mark can hold emotion. Paint layers build relationships of interconnectedness. I am drawn to areas of surprise and the language of color. When I feel emotional honesty in a work of art, I am energized.
