I am drawn to the physicality of making a painting and the tactile engagement of materials. I am interested in the charged attributes of a hand -drawn line and how a mark holds emotion. Paint layers build relationships of interconnectedness. I am drawn to areas of surprise and the language of color. When I feel emotional honesty in a work of art, I am energized.

Painting is like time spent in a forest, when the sounds of a busy world give way to different sounds. Another language, once known, reawakened.

I try to touch that world.
