Portfolio of Works > Drop Cloth Paintings

I use drop cloths that have been on the studio floor absorbing materials from months of painting on panels. The cloth is washed and cut in various shapes relative to the existing colors and forms on the surface. I begin a dialogue with these materials using needlework. I think of stitches like marks on a drawing. I am drawn to the metaphoric and historic implications of sewing and textiles. Sometimes elements like screen, tulle, or burlap are included in the process.
